Welcome to my homepage!
Hi! Currently I am a postdoctoral researcher at University of Piraeus, I have participated in several national and international research projects and I have been blessed to work with professional, brilliant, innovative, adaptable, proactive and always positive colleagues!
My research interests include, but are not limited to, Distributed Reasoning in Description Logics, Representation and Reasoning with Big Data, Ontology Evolution, Link Discovery and Linked Data consumption.
I hold a Ph.D. in Knowledge Representation and Reasoning (2014) from the Department of Information & Communication Systems Engineering, University of Aegean, Greece. My Ph.D. research has been funded by IRAKLITOS II PhD Scholarship (Scholarship for research by the Greek Ministry of Education and the European Union, 2014). The subject of the research was distributed Description Logics reasoning, in peer-to-peer settings. The thesis is available online at the National Documentation Centre (here).
My M.Sc. in Information Management (2009) is form the Department of Information & Communication Systems Engineering, University of Aegean, Greece. My M.Sc. thesis "TELEX supported collaborative ontology engineering (TCOE)" is also available online (here). TCOE is based on the semantics of the actions performed by the knowledge engineers and workers, acting on a single ontology, as these are realized and exploited by Telex. Telex has been developed in LIP6 (France), and its purpose is to assist and co-ordinate collaborative parts performing actions on the same object (in our case an ontology). This software exploits the semantics of the actions performed by the collaborative members, checks the consistency of the actions applied, based on a set of constraints being specified, and proposes sequences of actions (schedules), which if executed would update the under revision object consistently. The developed system aims to support the HCOME methodology for the collaborative engineering of ontologies, as it has been presented by the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the University of the Aegean, although being generic enough for supporting other methodologies and systems.
I also hold a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, (minor Computer Science) (2003), Technological Educational Institute (T.E.I.) of Crete. Prior to this, I received a Scholarship from State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) for Socrates/Erasmus studies in LMU Leeds, UK, during the winter semester of academic year 1998-1999.
I have been instructor to some undergraduate and postgraduate courses (please see the related section for details) and supervised postgraduate theses.
Feel free to ask me about my published work in international journals (KAIS, IJAIT, ESWA), conferences and workshops (SETN, ICTAI, KEOD, WoMO, ESWC, Semantics, WIMS). You can find more about me online at DBLP, Google Scholar, Zenodo and Elsevier Scopus.
